Emergency Care

Providing Everything You Need

LOOSE OR BROKEN BRACKET, WIRE, OR BAND

If a bracket, wire, or band comes loose or breaks, do not panic. Unless you are in pain, it is not an emergency. Please call our office so that we can evaluate your situation and help you accordingly.

POKING/IRRITATING WIRE

If a wire is poking or irritating, you may try to use a blunt instrument (like the eraser end of a pencil) and gently push the wire out of the way. Alternatively, wax may be placed over any sharp or poking wires. If any piece comes off entirely, please save it and bring it with you to the office.

DISCOMFORT

When you get your braces on, you may feel some general soreness. It is normal for your teeth to be tender to biting pressures for three to five days. For relief, you may rinse your mouth with a warm salt water mouth rinse and/or take aspirin, Tylenol (acetaminophen), or Advil (ibuprofen).

TRAUMA

In case of any accident involving the face, check your mouth and the appliances immediately. If teeth are loosened or the appliances damaged, contact us or your dentist immediately.
